Leadership Coach + Consultant

Ways to work together

1:1 Coaching

For leaders at any stage—especially those holding a lot with very little support.
We slow things down, name what’s really happening, and make room for your lived experience, not just your job title.

What to expect:

  • A grounding conversation to understand your role, power, and pressures

  • Space to unpack harm, burnout, and big transitions without judgment

  • Practical steps you can try right away, at a pace that works for you

Organizational Support

For grassroots and newer nonprofits that are growing fast, holding complex community needs, and trying to stay aligned with their values. We look at how decisions are made, who holds power, and what support your people actually need.

What to expect:

  • Support with governance, roles, and decision‑making that centers your community

  • Simple systems for communication, accountability, and care

  • A plan that fits your capacity, not someone else’s ideal model

Interim Leadership

When there’s a gap in leadership, I step in to steady things without taking over your story. We keep staff, board, and community informed, and move at a pace that respects what people have already lived through.

What to expect:

  • Short‑term leadership that brings calm, clarity, and structure

  • Support with hard conversations and transitions

  • A focus on leaving things more grounded than I found them

Organizational Assessments

I offer a fresh, non‑performative look at your governance, leadership, operations, and culture. We name what’s really happening, including harm and power dynamics, and map out changes that are actually doable.

What to expect:

  • Review of governance, policies, and day‑to‑day practices

  • Input from the people most impacted by decisions

  • Recommendations that support sustainable growth and fiscal health

  • Leadership and organizational assessments rooted in equity and trauma awareness

Truth with care. Then action.

Most leaders and organizations I work with are carrying a lot — community expectations, funder demands, staff needs, and their own histories. My work is to slow things down, name what’s really happening, and move in a way that reduces harm instead of adding to it.

Meet you where you are

Cut through the noise

Move forward

No script and no judgment — just a starting point that honors your story, your community, and your capacity. We work with what’s real, not what “should” be happening.

We sort through advice, funder pressure, and internal dynamics to find the few things that actually matter right now for your people, your governance, and your fiscal health.

Insight is helpful, but progress is the goal. Together we choose next steps that are doable, trauma‑aware, and aligned with your values — even when things are messy.

Modern Office Setup

Joann is a rare combination of integrity, heart, and honesty — and that’s what makes her such an incredible coach. She is genuine in everything she does and creates a space where her clients can connect with their truest selves. I cannot recommend working with Joann more highly. If you’re ready to make a meaningful change in your life, she’ll walk beside you with wisdom, compassion, and unwavering support.

I came to Joann during a major transition, stepping into the Executive Director role at a nonprofit that fights to prevent the very trauma I survived. She held my professional vision while helping me remember my needs as a person. She never offered quick fixes. She listened, and helped me realize I already knew what I needed.

I left every session clear on how to move forward, and her reminders to pause and reflect stayed with me long after. Her coaching shaped both my leadership and my self-care, and her genuine care made it easy to show up, which is often half the battle. Joann is a consummate professional who also centers humanity in how we serve ourselves and each other. 10/10!

Having Joann step in as Interim Executive Director during a period of transition was vital for NEXT Distro. She provided steady leadership and clarity when we needed it most, keeping our mission on track while helping us navigate the complexities of our organizational growth.

I would highly recommend her to any board considering interim leadership; her ability to step into a challenging environment and foster stability is invaluable.
